Workshop outcomes
Overall objective:
- To build capacity among social work supervisors to render effective supervision to child protection social workers.
- To empower social workers with knowledge of what type of services in supervision they should receive.
- To capacitate social workers with knowledge and skills to be able to apply the position as a supervisor in the child protection field.
Objectives:
- To empower participants regarding ethical responsibilities towards the profession and child protection.
- To keep abreast of the current trends, research and developments in the profession with different partners in social work/child protection.
- To empower participants with knowledge of roles, responsibilities and expectations regarding supervision in child protection.
- To equip supervisors with the knowledge and tools they need to successfully adjust to their new role and become effective leaders in child protection.
- To help supervisors to understand what to expect during the adjustment period, normalising any anxieties or uncertainties they might have.
- To be clear on the legislation, policies and guidelines in child protection.
- To provide an overview of the administrative supervision function in child protection.
- To provide an overview of the educative supervision function in child protection.
- To provide an overview of wellness and personal support function in child protection.
- To provide an overview of the responsibilities of the role of the supervisor on quality assurance and quality control.
- To provide an overview of the theory regarding supervision in practice.

Module 3: Roles, responsibilities and expectations
Module 4: Transition from social worker to social work supervisor
Module 5: Knowledge base of a child protection supervisor

Module 7: Quality assurance and quality control
Module 8: Supervision in practice
